  1. The Verse of the Throne

Allah—there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. No one can intercede with Him except by His permission. He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything of His knowledge except whatwhat He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not weary Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Are you a jinn or a human?” He replied, “I am a jinn.” (...) Ubayy then asked, “What can save us from you?” The jinn replied, “This verse in Surah al-Baqarah: {Allah—there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting}, Whoever recites it at sunset will be protected from us until morning, and whoever recites it at sunrise will be protected from us until sunset.” [1.1, 1.3].So when morning came, Ubayy went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and mentioned this to him. The Messenger believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so did the believers, All of them believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers; they make no distinction between any of His messengers.
