Adhkar on waking
Begin your day praising Allah, who gave you life again after sleep.
4 adhkar, each with its repetitions and source.
-
Upon waking from sleep
Praise be to Allah, who gave us life after He had caused us to die, and to Him is the Resurrection.
-
Praise be to Allah, who has granted me well-being.
Praise be to Allah, who has granted me good health in my body, restored my soul to me, and permitted me to remember Him.
-
Whoever stays up at night
There is no god but Allah alone; He has no partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power or strength except through Allah, the Most High, the Most Great,”
then he says: “O Lord, forgive me.” -
The Last Ten Verses of Surah Al-Imran
{إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ (190)}
{الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ قِيَامًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ (191)}
{رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ مَنْ تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنْصَارٍ (192)}
{رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلْإِيمَانِ أَنْ آمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَآمَنَّا ۚ رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ (193)}
{رَبَّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ (194)}
{فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّي لَا أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَامِلٍ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَىٰ ۖ بَعْضُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ ۖ فَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا وَأُخْرِجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا فِي سَبِيلِي وَقَاتَلُوا وَقُتِلُوا لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ثَوَابًا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عِنْدَهُ حُسْنُ الثَّوَابِ (195)}
{لَا يَغُرَّنَّكَ تَقَلُّبُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي الْبِلَادِ (196)}
{مَتَاعٌ قَلِيلٌ ثُمَّ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ (197)}
{لَكِنِ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا نُزُلًا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِلْأَبْرَارِ (198)}
{وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَمَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَاشِعِينَ لِلَّهِ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۗ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ (199)}
(200)}In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
{Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those of understanding (190)}
{Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, You did not create this in vain. Glory be to You! So protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (191)}
{Our Lord, whoever You admit to the Fire, You have indeed disgraced him; and the wrongdoers will have no helpers. (192)}
{Our Lord, indeed we heard a caller calling to faith, saying, “Believe in your Lord,” so we believed. Our Lord, so forgive us ourand blot out our misdeeds, and cause us to die with the righteous.” (193)}
{Our Lord, grant us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not humiliate us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You never fail to fulfill Your promise (194)}
{So their Lord answered them, “I will not let the deeds of any of you—whether male or female—go to waste. You are all from one another. Therefore,As for those who emigrated, were driven from their homes, were harmed in My cause, fought, and were killed—I will surely expiate their sins andadmit them to Gardens beneath which rivers flow—a reward from Allah. And with Allah is the best of rewards (195)}
{Let not the movement of the disbelievers throughout the land deceive you (196)}
{It is but a brief enjoyment; then their refuge will be Hell. And what a wretched resting place! (197)}
{But for those who fear their Lord, there are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide forever—a dwelling from Allah. And what is with is better for the righteous (198)}
{And indeed, among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah and in what has been revealed to you and what has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allah; they do not exchange the versesof Allah for a paltry price. Those—for them is their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is Swift in reckoning (199)}
{O you who have believed, be patient and persevere, and stand firm, and fear Allah—that you may succeed (200)}The evidence
Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: “I spent the night at my aunt Maymuna’s—the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him— so I lay down across the width of the pillow, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his family lay down along its length.The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, slept until the middle of the night—or a little before or a little after——the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, awoke, sat up, and wiped the sleep from his face with his hand, then he recited the ten concluding verses of Surah Al-Imran until he finished them: {Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...},Then he went to a water skin hanging nearby and performed ablution from it, doing so thoroughly, and then he stood up to pray.”
